Toffees continue to WIN!
By: 21 | January 10th, 2009
The boys in blue made in five straight matches without a loss as they defeated Hull City 2-0 at Goodison Park on the strength Maroaune Fellaini and Mikel Arteta’s goal. It was a commanding victory in-which Hull City was handcuffed and barely threaten Toffees ‘keeper Tim Howard, who continued his streak of not allowing a ball past him to four-hundred fifty minutes. However the victory came with a bit of dark news as Maroaune Fellaini was yellow-carded after the break and will miss both of the upcoming Merseyside derbies.
With injuries still troublesome issue, David Moyes set forth Timmy Cahill as the lone striker and once again the Aussie international proved up to the task. Steven Pienaar and Mikel Arteta were on a mission creating opportunities but it was Leighton Baines who was provider for the first goal, crossing to Maroaune Fellaini to head into the net eighteen minutes after the start. Before the break, following a foul on Timmy Cahill, Mikel Arteta’s free kick tore into the net from twenty-two meters to give Everton the 2-0 lead.
After the restart, Everton head tight with the lead and effectively gave Tim Howard the balance of the day off as Hull City was unable to venture forward. However disaster did strike as the Maroaune Fellaini received a yellow a few minutes into the second half and now will miss the next two matches.
Following the victory, Everton manager David Moyes said to the BBC:
“It is another win, another clean sheet and although Hull made it a scrap, we deserved the win.
“Referees we have had recently have been very good, but I don’t think this one was. And we have had an offside goal, that was clear.
“I will be straight with things that affect both sides, and our first goal was offside. I have to be fair.
“The downside was the booking for Fellaini. I have seen it now on TV and the Hull lad ducked his head down to about four feet off the ground, Fellaini is looking at the ball and toe-pokes it away – it can’t seriously be dangerous play, you are entitled to challenge for that.”

Fellaini is experiencing the same problems we had with Crouch, getting booked for being too tall ..
