Phil Neville gives David Moyes a pat on the back
By: 21 | January 20th, 2009Following the draw against Liverpool, in which your favourite Aussie Tim Cahill leveled the match as time wound down, skipper Phil Neville lauded high praise on David Moyes:
“You need belief when you come to Anfield. When you play against any of the top four sides, you need to believe that you belong on this stage and I think that we had that.
“We went into the game full of confidence and very calm. It was a calm build up this week, there was no cheerleading and there was none needed because our confidence, our play and our composure was all there.
“A lot of that was to do with the manager – him and Steve Round have been working long and hard with us this week, telling us that we’re here because we deserve to be here and to go out showing the confidence we’ve been showing.
“I think it was one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played all season.”
“It was a great game to play in. The derby clashes we’ve played so far have all been early kick-offs, played in sunshine with a wet pitch and they haven’t been the best of games to play in.
“But this was a night game – wet pitch – and was absolutely perfect for football. Both teams were going for victory and I think a draw was a fair result.
“We now need to take that confidence into our next three games because they’re coming thick and fast now and we need to be prepared.”
