pesky Hull City is still pesky
By: 21 | September 21st, 2008
Unruley sorts that they are, Hull City continued with their completely inappropriate play for a newly promoted club as they fought Everton to a 2-2 draw. Hull took the lead when a Dean Marney cross was headed-in by Michael Turner eighteen minutes into the action packed match. While their numerous chances the goal wasn’t breached again till an unfortunate own-goal by Phil Neville in trying to clear a corner, giving Hull City the 2-0 lead three minutes after the break. With it looking as if the home side was going to continue their winning ways, Everton climbed back into the match with a stunning two goals in a five minute period.
At the seventy-third ‘Roo Tim Cahill powered in a drive that some might question whether it was in (as my ancient co-hort insisted on telling me, think of Wembley) as it hit the post and came down near the line. Adjudged as a goal, Everton had some life back in them and only five minutes later on a slick set-up between Yakubu and Louis Saha, Leon Osman was fed the ball, which he prompty volleyed into the net. It was a worthy draw for Everton in a match that was definitely a tale of two different halves.
Everton sits in tie for eighth place with Sunderland and Blackburn with seven points. The Toffees face Blackburn in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.
