Man City make a £15million bid for Joleon Lescott

By: John | July 17th, 2009

As reported in various places.

Moyes has already stated no players will be sold. But do we sell him for £20m and use the money for new players? It sounds too good to turn down but do we need to lose an England international to one of the teams who will be battling for our 5th spot and have the resources to potentially reach the holy grail of 4th?

Personally I think Lescott would be mad to join them. Things sound great over at Eastlands but come middle of the season how will 7/8/9 strikers be feeling having to battle it out for 2 positions? I can see players like Robinho causing a lot of unrest.

We have a settled, hardworking, commited side with team spirit at a maximum coming off the back of our most successful season in donkeys years. A couple of defenders and midfielders (at least one world-class midfielder) and we can be up there again. We also have Europe to look forward to.

I think we need to keep him more than we need the money. Comfortable in the centre or left-back and an invaluable goal tally to boot. Don’t go Joleon!!

I woulnd’t be surprised if Lescott would rather stay.

Everton strikes me as a club with solid team spirit and definitely not a place players are in a hurry to leave (Cahill and Arteta could easily play for a Big Four team, but are rarely linked with a move).

Also, as a Wolves fan I remember Lescott being very loyal and staying with us until the timing was right for him to move up to the Prem with you guys.
