Liverpool’s other club comes to Goodison on Saturday
By: 21 | September 25th, 2008Liverpool’s second favourite club visits Goodison Park on Saturday with the Toffees looking to regain 2006 form when they defeated Liverpool 3-0. Over the past few years, the home advantage has been touch and go and last years loss, decided on a Dirk Kuyt penalty strike as time ran-out was gut-wrenching.
Quite seriously the start of the Premier League season has been an odd one for both clubs. I honestly expected better performances from both and yes, expected Liverpool to be more commanding. The addition of Robbie Keane hasn’t proven very fruitful of yet and it is shocking to see them held off the score-sheet in two of their first five matches. Clearly the “book is out” on defending their attack much should be learned from tactics employed by Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane, whose clubs stymied Liverpool.
David Moyes clearly positioned the lineup in the mid-week Carling Cup match to ensure Everton’s opening lineup is full recovered. Rafael BenÃtez did precisely the same and both clubs appear to be fully healthy and will put their top lineups on the pitch. Equally with the mid-week match and the Derby being the earlier match on Saturday afternoon, both clubs have modest practices scheduled for tomorrow and it is highly unlikely that the injury situation will change. As Tim Cahill, Marouane Fellaini, Leon Osman and Louis Saha gel, the Everton attack looks to be extremely promising and capable of defeating the best clubs in the Premier League. It goes without saying that this match is a priority for the Toffees with the added bonus that a victory would likely see Liverpool drop from the top four. Tension will be high and as always, you can expect both clubs battle hard in this great Derby.
Enjoy the match. I will provide updates if there are material changes due to injuries.

brilliant comment. Don’t you have a hockey game to blog about? You people shouldn’t even bother coming to a real Football site much less talking about it. I’d visit your blog to comment but why bother it’s obviously the work of a idiot.
Keep it up 21 – don’t be upset by fools who know nothing of Football.
